• ‘Come and give me a big hug’

Monday November 3th, Boumalen Dades, the small town in south-eastern Morocco, man was killed by his nephew who was carrying a sharp knife for unknown intention.

Ayoub is an orphan. As his father passed away, his uncle had gone on duty to take after him. He was at high school but was neither smart enough nor he taught once to leave school for alternatives elsewhere. His principal decision was to go on studying. This was the last chance lazy students may have. However, students officially determined either unsuccessful or violent refer to special cases. The government normally guides them through job training and rehabilitation centers.

There was a local story; Ayoub had no choice to keep courses as the school administration had refused his soliciting demand. On the other hand, his request had been taken into consideration while teachers promised to help as much as possible, the administration confirms, indeed.

On the first day after weekend, the school opened, teachers were working, students were studying, people outside were doing what they normally do, and no one had an idea what would happen in the afternoon, no fear to be chocked by unusual crime scene at the gate of the town high school.  They didn’t even know that Ayoub, they taught he was so calm would become ‘hero’ of bloody scene of violence.

In the afternoon, Ayoub had been already there and then everybody got surprised. He held the knife and his little brother captive. As his peaceful mood vanished; he was shouting and threatening anyone to be close to his controlled circle, otherwise he would hurt the little boy.

The crowd had no solution to free the captive but went on to convince the agitator student to put down the knife; the scene would be certainly over, watchers believed. Similarly, the police were hardly attempting to finish with that, they didn’t even think of one casualty, it would be better to save both brothers, the police planned. Time was running, Ayoub, unwillingly, rejected request and all instructions.

Their last choice concentrated on the Brothers’ uncle. Lahcen might be the only one able to manipulate his nephew and save the other one, neighbors ensured. As a result, Lahcen harried to join the crowd, got closer to his nephews in trouble, and addressed to Ayoub in order to change his mind at the urgent moment.

Lahcen finally succeeded to put end to the story which sounded stranger in the tranquil town of Boumalen-Dades. The little boy had become free again and the observers ‘got their breathe back’.

But Lahcen hadn’t finished yet. It was a worthwhile opportunity to gently tell his nephew few words.

“Why would you do this? You mightn’t think of it my dare, It’s OK now, come and give me a big hug.”

Ayoub had occasion to stab his uncle in the heart. It was over then.
